The languages-thread - Herrmann Segerman - 26.11.2019 Well, to create a little bit of activity here without spending any effort in creating new threads, here the copy of the already existing german thread! Which languages do you speak? Which languages are you planing to learn/are you learing in the moment? How good are you in these languagues and what else do you have to say about all of the beautifull languages here on earth? I personally do not have some much to offer, with only german and english as my "relevant" languagues which i can really use to keep up a conversation. Okay, maybe my german is really good - unsuprisingly - but were would i be as a human if i couldn't pronounce Grundstücksverkehrsgenehmigungszuständigkeitsübertragungsverordnung correctly? Right! In the stone-age! Additionally i am able to work with really basic swedish and russian words, would consider my bavarian as my mother-tounge next to this "high-german" stuff from which we all know from the bottom of our hearts it's just wrong and i can work with swiss-german. And yes, i consider this an advantage, because i can say Chuchichäschtli correctly and you not. I can not say Chuchichäschtli correctly. But why should I be able to do that? And what is Chuchi...? It sounds like an atztek temple from pre-Columbian Mexico... RE: The languages-thread - Dakota - 09.12.2019 Hey, Herrmann Segerman, I'm still waiting for the answer: What is Chuchichäschtli because now? I really have no idea. To answer your question: Imagine you are stuck in a switzerland and you desperatly looking for a little cabinet for your kitchen, but no one in Ikea understands what you mean by saying "Küchenschränkchen". (chuchi = Küche, chäschtli = Schränkchen) Then you have no place to properly place your spices and all you new friends from switzerland think you're poor and won't talk to you anymore. RE: The languages-thread - Dakota - 09.12.2019 Kitchen cabinet! I never thought! But clearly: chäschtli = Kästchen (box). So a kitchen cabinet in Switzerland is very important for the image. Good to know. Thanks for the clarification. |
